Supporting Local Businesses One Visit at a Time in Downtown Gastonia

At Members Credit Union, community outreach is about more than dropping off business cards and introducing ourselves. It is about building relationships, supporting local businesses, and finding opportunities to help our communities thrive.

Recently, Members Credit Union spent the day walking through downtown Gastonia, visiting local businesses and introducing them to Members Credit Union. We had the opportunity to meet business owners, learn about their stories, and share how Members Credit Union is committed to being a caring and trusted financial partner in the communities we serve.

Before we began our visits, we stopped by Graze and Piece Charcuterie, owned by Cayse Phelps, to pick up a special order.

We purchased 20 dozen cookie bundles from Chloe's Sugar Rush Cookie Company to share with the businesses we planned to visit throughout the day.

What makes Chloe's Sugar Rush Cookie Company so special is that it is operated alongside Graze and Piece by Cayse's 8-year-old daughter, Chloe. Through her cookie business, Chloe is learning valuable lessons about entrepreneurship, customer service, responsibility, and what it means to own and operate a business.

As an organization that believes strongly in financial education and helping people build successful futures, we love seeing young entrepreneurs like Chloe gain hands-on experience at such an early age. The lessons she is learning today can help shape the opportunities she creates tomorrow.

The cookie bundles gave us a fun way to introduce ourselves to local businesses while also supporting another local entrepreneur. It was a true community partnership. A local credit union supporting a local business, while helping spotlight the efforts of a young entrepreneur who is already making an impact.

Throughout the day, we met business owners from a variety of industries, heard stories about their businesses, and strengthened connections within the Gastonia community. Those conversations are important because strong communities are built through relationships.

We are grateful to Cayse and Chloe for partnering with us and helping make our downtown outreach efforts a little sweeter.
